….the (LA) orchestra is announcing a fellowship program proposed by Dudamel that will offer promising conductors the chance too work with one of the hottest figures in classical music.
More than just that, the criteria for applying for the fellowship program are: talent, passion for music, and a passion for music education.
A requirement of the fellowship will be to better work with the surrounding LA community to bring music to everyone.
It should be noted that two of the first four fellowships are going to men who are products of El Sistema - fantastic (if not slightly swayed). In addition, there are no women - but… are there women conductors at the international level?? I can’t think of any. Why is that?
