Started looking further into the life and works of Peter Beard today after reading Cheri’s post last night at scout holiday. I want to see his Pirelli calendar for 2009 in full - it looks absolutely fantastic.
My first exposure to Beard’s work was sometime between 1993 - 1995 (I was pretty young) but I think House of Style on MTV did a feature on him (back when the show was Cindy Crawford and Todd Oldham) - and I was totally struck by his collages and use of his own blood to bring a new level of storytelling and presence to his work. It was years before I ran across his work again and my memory was jogged.
Going to do more reading on him and search out some books. Definitely would love to see a copy of Zara’s Tales (which is in my price range). Would be great to see some of his larger books too!!!
