David Byrne’s temporary sound/art installation will use the Great Hall fo the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan as the instrument for his work.

By attaching devices to architectural & structural features throughout the building (which just finished a large scale restoration in 2006) - he’ll “make the building sing”. The sounds will be controlled by an organ console positioned inside the building which people will be able to play themselves.

Byrne previously installed a similar piece in Sweden.
