Nicolai Ouroussoff applauds Gwathmey’s resoration work of Paul Rudolph’s modernist building @ Yale - but also expresses disappointment in his own contribution via the new addition (which will house the Art History department).

I haven’t seen the building in person yet - but I can imagine the task of adding on to one of the most discussed (and often hated) buildings of Modernist history as frightening (to say the least).

Hopefully I’ll get a chance to run down to New Haven soon and see the restored/new building before winter sets in.
