PBS art documentary raises eyebrows, concerns in Dallas schools (DMN)

I’m always shocked when I read stories like this - not because I don’t expect this level of censorship from certain American families - but because it is so narrow minded.

Permission slips to watch documentaries? Art teachers resigning because students might have seen a piece of nude artwork on a school field trip? Censoring a documentary because they are scared students might do their own research and see troubling themes in the artwork?

There are things far worse in the world than sparking genuine interest in children surrounding art, or having conversations about difficult topics that are depicted in works of art, or children seeing classical Greek or Roman sculptures while at a museum.

art21 by PBS is a fantastic series that I am slowly but surely working my way through every episode thanks to NetFlix.

Censorship like this infuriates me.
