Would love to see this work in its entirety at the Royal Ballet. Wayne McGregor has created a work which is receiving critical acclaim (NYT). This work also offers an opportunity for him to collaborate with visual artist Julian Opie who created a never ending stream of his stick figures doing laps above the heads of the dancers. In addition, music by Max Richter (!!!!)
Even watching this excerpt (brief and during rehearsal) sent me into a space of reflection. I never danced growing up in any sort of traditional way - but this work feels extremely relevant to the motion of my life (albeit endlessly more beautiful). Truly looking forward to seeing more and more of McGregor’s work (maybe stateside soon!)
This work was on the BBC’s iPlayer until last Friday - but now it’s come down. I’m searching for a way to view the work…. any suggestions?
More on Wayne McGregor and his world premiere commission for the RB (as well as its dedication to Monica Mason in her 50th year with the Royal Ballet!) here.
Wish I could’ve been in Covent Garden for this one.
