France Unveils Bold Architectural Proposals for Metropolitan Paris (NYT)
Interesting to read through the summaries of all the proposals for the reworking of Paris into a “post-Kyoto city”. There are a variety of proposed solutions or moods to the shift in urban planning. Sarkozy enacted the study in order to move Paris towards being a more sustainable and inclusive city …. getting rid of the barrier which separate central Paris from the surrounding suburbs.
The proposals evoke thoughts of Frederick Olmstead’s Emerald Necklace “green-ing” of Boston as well as our infamous Big Dig (with Rogers proposals to bury major transportation underground)…..
Let’s see what happens with these proposals in these economic times.
